Every day families in our community are faced with the prospect of not being able to afford life saving cancer treatments for their children. Many times there are no choices or resources to provide families with basic needs while they are in what is most likely the most stressful time in their lives, caring for a child with cancer.
How Do I Know?
In the summer of 2008 I was in the oncology ward of the Chris Evert Children's Hospital at Broward General Hospital. While there, I was tested for different types of cancer to diagnose my illness. It turned out that I had a severe case of acute ITP (Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura). It was serious but not cancer. I remember leaving the hospital after 10 days knowing that some of the kids on my floor would never leave. My doctors, Roskos and Rodriguez (pediatric oncologists) were awesome, but they can only do so much for so many. Now, so blessed with so much, I am starting a fund raiser to help those that face challenges beyond what most of us could ever imagine. I want to make a difference.
Throughout this season I received pledges for every RBI. We raised about $7000 for the “Jessica June Children’s Cancer Foundation” on behalf of RBIs for Cancer. JJCCF (www.JJCCF.org) is a tax-exempt IRS approved 501(c) (3) public charity. I hold great hope that one day we can find a cure. Until that time, we can help in small ways to provide hope to those less fortunate than us. I pray that you join with me in giving a pledge or donation.

I believe:
"You find yourself when you lose yourself in the service of others!"
RBIs4cancer is just that!
You can choose to pledge from 1 cent up to whatever you wish for every RBI I have during my high school season (St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale, FL). Or you may choose to just donate right to the foundation regardless of my performance. Either way, every penny raised is going to the Jessica June Children's Cancer Foundation at the Chris Evert Children's Hospital. I have faith that the little difference that we can pledge can make a huge difference for those children less fortunate.
Cancer doesn't discriminate. Let's make a difference!
